Family Hub Kickoff Event!

For the Hub to succeed and help our children not fall behind this summer, our families first needed computers and internet access. That's why we kicked off the Hub work on June 16th by distributing computers to our families, along with other treats and gifts. After the event we moved around the neighborhood to personally deliver these to families who couldn’t make it to the drive-through pickup.

Our Fox station (KTVU) featured a long piece of our event - and interviewed many of our families talking about their commitment to make sure their kids do not fall behind this summer: Laptops given out to close digital divide in Oakland.

Local public radio station KALW also showed up to talk to our families and ran a great story: The Oakland REACH Opens Summer School.

Because we are stronger together, we partnered with two more black-owned businesses, Frohm’s Martial Arts and Sugarsweet Studio for this launch event.

We are officially fully staffed with 14 teachers ready to go for classes. And more than 190 families have already enrolled! There is so much demand to #REACHforMore.
