Kim Jackson Nielson

Kim is a Partner at New Profit, focusing primarily on supporting New Profit’s portfolio of pre-K-12 grantee organizations. She provides deep advisory support and capacity-building to grantees and currently serves on the board of The Oakland REACH and English Learners Success Forum. As a leader of New Profit’s pre-K-12 education practice, Kim also guides selection of new education grantees. In 2022-2023, Kim led New Profit’s Widespread Impact Collaborative, a community of practice for a set of organizations working to spread their model through partnering with others rather than direct replication. 

Prior to New Profit, Kim worked as a nonprofit strategy consultant at Root Cause. While there, she supported clients in healthcare, policy advocacy, and education on a range of projects including strategic planning, performance measurement, and stakeholder engagement. Through this work, Kim developed a specific interest in education, which she further cultivated as an Education Pioneers Graduate School Fellow at the District of Columbia Public Schools, where she helped to refine the district’s approach to assessing teacher effectiveness. Kim believes increasing equity for all students is the single most important social issue today. She holds a BA in cognitive science from Brown University and an MBA from Yale School of Management.

What inspired you to join REACH’s Board?

I am energized by REACH's unrelenting pursuit of improving outcomes for Black and Brown students while keeping families at the center of the equation. REACH is uniquely positioned to move the needle for kids across the country, and I'm honored to support the organization during this exciting phase.
