Lauren Chapalee

Lauren Chapalee joins the Oakland REACH with nearly two decades of experience guiding the birth of large-scale education initiatives. At Great Minds PBC, she led the design and pilot of the company’s groundbreaking whole-school educator training program, forging new links between school culture and high-quality instruction. As the instructional design lead for PhD Science K-5 and Wit & Wisdom K-8, award-winning instructional materials generating $44M in annual sales nationwide, her impact spans all 50 states. A Teach for America alum, she taught kindergarten and trained teachers in DC Public Schools. Recognized as a national Truman Scholar for public service leadership, a Hope Street Group National Teacher Fellow, and a DC Public Schools Distinguished Teacher, Lauren is passionately dedicated to empowering every student and family. She lives in small-town West Virginia with her husband, two children, a dog, a cat, and a tortoise.
