The Oakland REACH: A Four-Part Series

Good storytelling and authentic partnerships have been key to The Oakland REACH’s journey from day one. We were fortunate these two things converged recently with this incredible four-part video series produced by FORWARD storystudio. These videos are beautifully made and give a true insight into our work at the REACH and what drives us to REACH for more.

Part 1: Day in the Life of a Literacy Liberator

Meet Susy Aguilar, an Oakland REACH Literacy Liberator, and follow a day in her life working in Oakland Unified School District to provided high-quality, high-dosage tutoring to students who need it most.

Part 2: The Oakland REACH's Liberator Model

The Oakland REACH's Liberator Model upskills parents and caregivers to be paid tutors, providing high-dosage tutoring in some of the lowest-performing schools. Liberators are proof that our communities are full of assets that always have existed, but too often are sidelined.

Part 3: Real Change

Listen to The Oakland REACH's Founder and CEO, Lakisha Young, tell her story and share the mission and vision of REACH.

Part 4: REACH Way Institute

At REACH Way Institute, leaders learn about The Oakland REACH's Liberator Model and learn and self-assess what it takes to be ready to successfully implement this model in their own communities across the nation.
