Introducing Our New COO, Lal Jones-Bey

We're thrilled to introduce our incredible new COO, Lal Jones-Bey! Lal will play an essential role in our ability to grow and expand our reach.

Lal joins The Oakland REACH from City College of San Francisco where he was Senior Director of Risk Management and Quality assurance. In this role, Lal was responsible for risk management, including the college's COVID-19 response, in addition to a range of projects supporting the facilities division. Prior to City College, Lal led and worked in operations for charter schools and educational technology companies including Making Waves Academy, KIPP Bay Area Schools and Coursera.

Lal has a bachelor's degree in business from the University of California, Berkeley and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Saint Mary's College of California.

Lal grew up here in the Bay Area, attending schools primarily in Fremont and Richmond. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his three kids, Khalil (11), Khari (9) and Chaya (6).
